Our 12-Step Program in Florida offers a structured and holistic approach for individuals struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. Through personalized support and a step-by-step framework, we help you regain control of your life and achieve long-term sobriety.
The program combines evidence-based therapies, cognitive and experiential approaches, and family involvement to ensure a complete recovery experience.
In 1939, Alcoholics Anonymous published its original 12-step method of recovery from alcoholism in the book Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism. Many programs have started as offshoots of the original Alcoholics Anonymous program.
At The Palms Recovery, we have successfully integrated the 12-step method as part of our addiction recovery treatments.
Recovery is a journey of courage, transformation, and hope. The stories shared here are from individuals who have walked this path, and they stand as a powerful testament to the fact that a new life, free from addiction, is an achievable reality. We are deeply grateful to them for their willingness to share their experiences. These are more than five-star reviews.
They are a source of hope and inspiration to take the next step.

No, the 12-step program is fundamentally not designed to be completed alone. While it requires a great deal of personal inventory and self-reflection, the program is built on the principle of fellowship and mutual support.
Several key steps explicitly involve interaction with others. For example, Step 5 requires that members “Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs,” and Step 12 involves trying “to carry this message to alcoholics.” The entire structure of sponsorship, where a more experienced member guides a newcomer, is central to working the steps. The shared experience and community support found in meetings are considered essential for recovery. If you are interested in attending a meeting, feel free to visit our treatment center.
The 12-step program does not have a set timeline or duration. It is not a course that one completes, but rather a lifelong program for recovery.
The principles outlined in the 12 Steps are designed to be practiced on a continuous basis. Steps like Step 10 (“Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it”) and Step 11 (“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact…”) are ongoing daily practices. Members “work the steps” at their own pace with the guidance of a sponsor, but the program itself is a design for living that continues indefinitely to maintain sobriety.
Officially, 12-step fellowships like Alcoholics Anonymous do not publish “success rates” in the traditional sense. Due to the organization’s principle of anonymity and its nature as a non-professional fellowship, it does not track its members or conduct formal outcome studies.
The success of the program is primarily expressed through the personal stories and sobriety of its individual members. While some external studies have attempted to measure the effectiveness of A.A., the organization itself focuses on the message that recovery is possible for those who are willing to follow the path.
At The Palms Recovery, we are committed to making our comprehensive treatment programs as accessible as possible. That is why we accept many major insurance plans to help cover the cost of care.
It’s important to understand the distinction: while traditional, community-based 12-step meetings (like A.A. or N.A.) are free and self-supporting, our program offers much more. We integrate the proven, foundational principles of the 12-Step program into a sophisticated clinical treatment model. Your insurance covers our professional services, including medical oversight, individual and group therapy, dual diagnosis treatment, and other evidence-based modalities that constitute our holistic approach. This allows you to receive the full benefit of the 12-Step philosophy within a structured, therapeutic environment, with the cost being covered by your insurance provider.
