What We Treat at The Palms Recovery

We treat addiction alongside the anxiety, depression, and trauma behind it, giving men whole-person care that supports lasting recovery.
What We Treat

The Thing You Came in for Is Usually Not the Whole Story

Most men come to treatment focused on one thing, the drinking, the pills, the cocaine, whatever has caused the most damage. That focus makes sense, but it often misses what is underneath. For a lot of men, the substance started as a way to handle something else, the anxiety that would not quiet down, the depression that made it hard to get up, the trauma that never got dealt with. The substance worked for a while, until it became its own problem on top of the first one.
This is why treating only the substance so often fails. A man gets sober, feels better for a while, and then the thing he was medicating comes roaring back with nothing to manage it, and the old solution is right there waiting. Real recovery means treating the whole picture. When we look at what to treat, we are not just looking at what you were using. We are looking at why, because that is the part that decides whether recovery lasts.

The Addictions We Treat

We treat the full range of substance addictions, using evidence-based care that is tailored to your unique needs. Whatever you have been using, you are not the first man to walk through our doors with it, and there is no judgment here, only help.
Alcohol and Common Substances
Comprehensive treatment for alcohol, opioids, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription drugs, and marijuana, the substances we see most often.
Other Drugs
Care for MDMA, benzodiazepines, kratom, and more, because addiction comes in many forms and all of them deserve real treatment.
Polysubstance Use
When more than one substance is involved, we treat the full picture rather than one piece of it, which is often exactly what past attempts missed.

The Mental Health Conditions We Treat

For most men, mental health is not a side issue. It is woven right into the addiction. We treat the conditions that so commonly drive or accompany substance use, at the same time as the addiction itself, because treating one and ignoring the other is a recipe for relapse.
Depression
For the men who have been drinking or using to escape a heaviness that will not lift, we treat the depression underneath, not just the substance on top of it.
Anxiety Disorders
When substances have become the way to quiet a mind that will not slow down, we help you find real, lasting relief.
Trauma and PTSD
For the pain and memories a man has been trying to numb, we offer proven trauma-focused care that gets to the root.
Bipolar Disorder
We provide care for men managing bipolar disorder alongside addiction, treating both together for real stability.

When Addiction and Mental Health Feed Each Other

For many men, substance use and a mental health condition are locked in a cycle, each one making the other worse. The anxiety drives the drinking, the drinking deepens the depression, the depression fuels more using, and around it goes. This is called co-occurring disorders, or dual diagnosis, and it is one of the most common reasons past treatment did not hold. When a program treats only one side of that cycle, the other side pulls a man right back in.
We break the cycle by treating both sides at once. Our integrated approach addresses the substance use and the mental health condition together, by the same team, so neither one is left to sabotage the other. This is not a specialty we tack on. It is central to how we treat men, because for so many of them, the overlap is not a complication. It is the actual reason nothing has worked yet.

One Team That Sees the Whole Picture

The advantage of treating everything in one place is that nothing gets missed and nothing gets treated in isolation. When your addiction, your mental health, and everything driving both are handled by one team that knows your whole story, the care can actually connect the dots. The therapist who understands your anxiety is working alongside the people managing every other part of your recovery, so your treatment is one coordinated whole instead of a set of disconnected pieces.
That is what treating the whole person really means in practice. It is not a slogan. It is a team that sees how all the parts of your situation fit together and builds one plan that is tailored to your unique needs. Whatever combination of things you are carrying, you do not have to sort it out alone or explain yourself to a dozen different providers. You reach out once, and we help you understand and treat the whole picture.
